About
About Speechie Bismah
Compassionate. Evidence-based. Family-focused.
Speechie Bismah is the Therapist behind SpeechieB Speech and Language Therapy — helping young children communicate, connect and thrive.
From a background in Law to a Master's in Speech and Language Therapy, her path has been shaped by a deep belief in the power of communication support.
Today she works with children under 5 in Manchester, supporting speech, language and social communication needs, including Autism, through warm, family-centred care.
Her Journey
Bismah began with an Undergraduate Degree in Law from Brunel University, London. After being inspired by the communication support her sister received following cochlear implant surgery, she found her true passion in Speech and Language Therapy — going on to complete her MSc at City University, London.
NHS & Early Years Experience
Substantial experience working for the NHS in London, supporting over 300 children across primary schools and Early Years Clinic settings — including children with Autism and speech, sound and language difficulties.
Specialist Support
Now based in Manchester, Bismah focuses on children under 5 with speech, language and social communication needs, including delivering the Hanen More Than Words Programme — sessions held virtually or in person if local.
Family-Centred Therapy
Every child is assessed holistically through a dynamic assessment of current skills and learning potential. Sessions are calm and engaging, with parents actively involved, reflections encouraged, and an open, honest dialogue maintained throughout.
Services
How I can support you and your child
Free Initial Consultation
A 15min video call to discuss the communication needs of your child and answer any questions you may have. The aim of this call is to ensure you are comfortable with me working with your child and understand the plan going forward.
Initial Assessment
Every child must be assessed before starting any intervention sessions. This will involve a discussion with parents to take a detailed case history, followed by an informal play-based assessment of your child. If the child is older, a formal assessment may be appropriate.
The initial assessment can take up to 2hrs and includes a formal written report.
1:1 Therapy Sessions
Each session lasts for roughly 60mins. It is carried out face-to-face for children who live in Manchester or virtually for those families who request it. Parents and wider family members are encouraged to get involved in the therapy sessions.
Travel charged at 45p per mile when applicable.
Hanen Programme
Hanen More Than Words Programme
Parent coaching for children aged 5 and under with Autism or social communication needs.
Bismah is licensed to deliver the Hanen More Than Words Programme. This is a programme designed for children aged 5 and under who are Autistic or who would benefit from social communication support.
The therapist runs this scheme virtually online. The aim is to coach parents on how to understand their child's communication better and carry out strategies through natural everyday activities. Children will not be present during the delivery of this programme.
The therapist will work with you and your child to identify their social communication goals, based on your child's current strengths and abilities, and provide you with personalised guidance and feedback.
You will learn
What motivates your child to communicate.
How to use your knowledge about your child's strengths to set appropriate and realistic goals.
How to make interactions with your child last longer.
Strategies for how to talk so that your child understands you.
